Marketing Writer Intern (Spring 2018)

Part-time in summer, eligible for college credit (unpaid)

Greenspring Media is the award-winning publisher of Minnesota Monthly, Midwest Home, and Where magazines, as well as other national and local publications. Greenspring Media’s marketing department seeks a motivated writer who can help create and implement content for magazine special sections, social media, websites, and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with special sections editor and interactive producer to create engaging print and online content
  • Help manage Minnesota Monthly and Midwest Home social media channels
  • Help write blog content for Minnesota Monthly and Midwest Home
  • Assist with creation of e-newsletters on a weekly basis

Ideal applicants have:

  • A degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing (or working toward a degree in one of those fields)
  • Experience researching and writing blog posts
  • Experience with popular social media platforms
  • Experience importing and managing digital content
  • Meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task
  • Basic experience with HTML, Emma, WordPress or CMS
  • A positive attitude and flexibility for changing priorities

Greenspring Media’s Integrated Marketing department seeks a detail-focused intern to work directly with the Marketing Public Relations Manager and Event Operations Director to work on a variety of marketing projects and the planning and execution of events. Editorial Intern, Minnesota Monthly (Spring 2018)

Greenspring Media is the award-winning publisher of Minnesota Monthly, Midwest Home, Where, and other national and local publications. Minnesota Monthly’s editorial department seeks a savvy, enthusiastic intern to work directly with the editorial team to assist with the magazine production process. Interns will attend editorial staff meetings, participate in generating story ideas, conduct background research and fact-checking, write for the print magazine and blog, proofread copy, and assist with administrative tasks. Candidates must be strong writers and editors and efficient researchers. The ability to shoot and edit video is a plus. Interns will receive writing coaching from the editorial staff and leave with print and online clips as well as a strong understanding of the magazine production process. Editorial Intern, Midwest Home (Spring 2018)

Greenspring Media is the award-winning publisher of Minnesota Monthly, Midwest Home, Where, and other national and local publications. 

Midwest Home seeks an enthusiastic intern who wants to learn the inside ropes of writing, editing, styling, and photographing a design magazine. Interns will participate in editorial planning meetings, photo shoots, and location scouting; conduct background research and fact-checking; write for the print magazine and blog; proofread copy; and assist with administrative tasks. We’re looking for strong writers and editors who have innate curiosity and an interest in design, home décor, shopping, and artisan-made goods.

Greenspring Custom Publishing Editorial Intern (Spring 2018)

Part-time, college credit (unpaid)

The custom division of Greenspring Media seeks a motivated editorial intern to work directly with the editorial staff in developing content for use across Greenspring’s custom publishing platform. The internship includes:

  • Editorial assistance and daily writing assignments for numerous Minnesota tourism publications and blogs, including Twin Cities Living, WHERE Guestbook, WHERE Twin Cities and Minneapolis & Saint Paul: Official Visitors Guide to the Twin Cities Area.
  • Write about shopping, dining, entertainment, meetings and events.
  • Acquire great clips for portfolios and valuable experience for resumes.

Along with regular daily writing and editorial tasks excellent team attitude, plus excellent writing and quality content is a major focus. The Editorial Intern participates in the editing and proofing process and provides feedback to the editors. The position’s primary responsibility is to learn by doing, and be open and willing to take on a variety of projects ranging from administrative to full-on feature writing. Administrative duties include assisting both edit and sales staffs with marketing initiatives and some event-related projects.

The Custom Publishing Editorial Intern will be expected to:

  • Plan far enough in advance to create a balanced workflow for quality work completed on deadline.
  • Coordinate deadlines and daily assignments with the Managing Editor.
  • Offer administrative support to both the Managing Editor and Editor.
  • Some project management of ad-driven or advertorial supplements and listings sections.
  • Participate in copyediting and proofing process as requested.
  • Build positive relationships with staff and bring energy, creativity, and a sense of positive teamwork to the group.
  • Leave with multiple clips and a strong sense of publication process and development.

  • Candidate requirements: Journalism major (seniors or recent graduates preferred) and some feature writing experience required.
