Deemed “the Oscars of the food world,” by Time magazine, the James Beard Foundation Awards are the country’s most coveted honor for chefs; food and beverage professionals; broadcast media, journalists, and authors writing about food. Minnesota Monthly Senior Editor Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl has won the 2010 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Writing on Spirits, Wine or Beer. Grumdahl was also nominated this year for a Beard Award for Best Food Column.

Nominated nine times for the highest award in her profession, the James Beard Foundation Award, she has won the honor five times: three times for wine writing and twice for restaurant criticism. Her work has also been chosen six times for inclusion in the annual anthology Best Food Writing in America.

Grumdahl has proven to be the best in her field and has continuously put Minnesota Monthly on the map for outstanding journalism for food and wine writing. “It’s a terrific honor to have been nominated for two of my columns in Minnesota Monthly this year.
