Nominated nine times for the highest award in her profession, the James Beard Foundation Award, she has won the honor five times: three times for wine writing and twice for restaurant criticism. Her work has also been chosen six times for inclusion in the annual anthology Best Food Writing in America.
Grumdahl has proven to be the best in her field and has continuously put Minnesota Monthly on the map for outstanding journalism for food and wine writing. “It’s a terrific honor to have been nominated for two of my columns in Minnesota Monthly this year. I could not be more thrilled to have won for my wine writing, and am tickled to get some outside recognition that Minnesota Monthly is in a league with, and sometimes even better than, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Saveur, and all the big boys!” said Grumdahl. Other nominees in her category were: Lettie Teague, Food & Wineand Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Gold, LA Weekly.
